RedDot Usergroup named Open Text Web Solutions Usergroup

Open Text Web Solutions Usergroup is the new official name since January 2010 of the former RedDot Usergroup. The name change was decided during the annual general meeting of the RedDot Usergroup last September and implemented with the turn of the year. This was the consequence of the lobby of Users, specialists and service providers taken after Open Text Web Solutions integrated the portfolio of RedDot.

The beginning of  2009 Open Text resolved the RedDot brand which was already taken over two years prior in order to incorporate - combined with other additionally acquired brands and products - into the Open Text Enterprise Content Management (ECM) - System. RedDot-products were allocated to the Open Text Web Solutions Group, today they are called Management Server (formerly Content Management Server) and Delivery Server (formerly Liveserver). "Therefore the RedDot Usergroup was in no reference to the product names“, said Dirk Langenheim,  executive chairman of the Open Text Web Solutions Usergroup. "And for us as the Usergroup this is a major factor. In the end there was no alternative time for our name change – even though organisationally we are completely independent from Open Text.“

The Open Text Web Solution Usergroup was founded in 2002 as the RedDot Usergroup and counts almost 100 members worldwide. The associations consists round about equal numbers of users and service providers from the CMS-environment, who utilise products by Open Text, a leading provider of  corporate-software in the field of ECM. The Usergroup meets regularly five times a year, in Germany and Great Britain, for user conferences with a wide range of lectures. They provide work-shops for extremely important subjects, which are also open to non-members.
